NHS Ayrshire & Arran have led the way in Scotland for pharmacy and prescribing developments with the introduction of electronic prescribing; the large number of pharmacist prescribers working in secondary and primary care to support person-centred care in accordance with Achieving Excellence in Pharmaceutical Care and our clinical service to the Emergency Departments (ED) and the Combined Assessment Units (CAU).
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior pharmacist to join the team supporting, developing and implementing the NHS Ayrshire and Arran Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicines Administration (HEPMA) system and also to lead, develop and deliver the clinical pharmacy service provided to the Combined Assessment Units and Emergency Departments within University Hospital Crosshouse and University Hospital Ayr. Your time will be split evenly between these two services.
Please note: this is a fixed term/secondment opportunity for 1 year.
In addition, you will participate in the wider work of the Digital Pharmacy team in supporting the day to day management of the WellSky HEPMA and pharmacy stock control system and development of future functionality. The successful applicant will also be required to contribute to the on call HEPMA support rota. Key responsibilities may change subject to the needs of the service.
You must have experience of working in hospital clinical pharmacy as a qualified pharmacist, and be registered in the UK. You will possess a qualification as an Independent Prescriber.
The post is an area wide post which may require travel to other NHS sites within Ayrshire. As such a car driver is essential.
You will be required to participate in departmental rotas as outlined in the contract associated with this post. In future, in accordance with AfC Terms and Conditions, you may be required to work over 7 days and/or an extended working day.
